A key driver in our commitment to sustainability is the ongoing electrification of our fleet and machinery. We already have several EV trucks in our ContainerLink transport fleet and will continue to invest in this area. We are proud to have recently ordered New Zealand’s first Kalmar Electric Empty Container Handler, for our new Tauriko container depot.

Our commitment to sustainability
ContainerCo is proud to be a New Zealand leader in sustainability for the shipping container logistics and servicing industry.
To this end, we have joined the globally recognised TOITŪ Envirocare Programme, to measure our performance and benchmark our success.
Fleet Electrification
Pioneering Water-Based Paint
Our service teams have pioneered the use of water-based paint systems in our container servicing (vs. acrylic paint) which is considerably friendlier for our people and the planet. This is evidence of our commitment to finding ways to do things better every day.
Leveraging Rail Connectivity
Connectivity to New Zealand’s rail network helps ContainerCo move significant volumes, with reduced emissions. This is not only good from an overall capacity viewpoint, but strategically it is important in helping us to support our partners with their Scope 3 Emission Management programmes.
Future Sustainability Programmes
We are currently trialing several future-focused sustainability projects, with a view towards implementing these across as many of our existing depots as possible, and especially our depot sites currently under construction. These include water retention & recycling programmes and solar energy generation.

””“At Maersk we are wholly committed to taking the global leadership role in the decarbonisation of logistics. We have a goal to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions across our organisation by 2040. We richly value our partnership with ContainerCo, who demonstrate many of the same values and commitments around sustainability, and continue to find ways in which to walk the talk across their New Zealand network.”
